We had an incredible tour of Pompeii with our guide, Gennaro. From the very beginning, he was warm and welcoming. He brought the ancient city to life with fascinating stories, historical context, and a great sense of humor that kept us all engaged. Gennaro clearly has a deep passion for history and it shows in the way he shares it—he was happy to answer all our questions and took the time to make sure me and my friend were enjoying the experience. This was a good tour, it was nice to see the highlights of this Pompeii with a guide as well as Mt Vesuvius in the same day. My only complaint is the time at Mt Vesuvius should definitely be a little bit longer as it takes a while to get up there and as soon as we did, had to come back down and not really get to enjoy it. Also I felt the description of the excursion didn’t really explain how steep / long the walk up to the top was. It was fine for us but just be aware for those that may not be as mobile.★

Reviews: Pompeii Small Group Tour with an Archaeologist

Our tour guide from Askos Tours was really excellent, the tour was about 2 hours which was about right, well paced, lots of information but not a complete barrage, and the group size was small enough that it felt comfortable.
We went on the 9:10am tour at the start of December, if going when Pompeii is likely to be busy, would certainly recommend going early to appreciate the site before it’s gets really crowded.
You’re then at leisure to walk the site and see other things, which is needed, as there is so much to see.
