We were very happy with our tour and both the boat and wine guides were all excellent and fun. We were lucky to be in off season and the only ones on the tour, but they were really friendly and sweet. They were very generous with the Generous Port on the boat because no one else was there. The area is stunning and if you have a chance to go for a ride on 222 road through Pinhão and beyond, it is deemed to be the most beautiful in the world. It is very pretty with the terraced winery hills and river.★

Vasco Andre' was our amazing guide for a full day private tour of the Douro Valley, answering all our question about the region, the towns on the river and on top of the hills, the types of grapes, soils, and wines produced by each, and the people who live and work here. We started the day early at our hotel in Pinhao with a 1-hour boat tour on the Douro River and had the entire boat to ourselves! An hour later when we returned, people were lined up to board crowded boats. A couple of other highlights - we stopped to pick and taste some grapes from the vine and a local farmer stopped by and invited us to his home with a spectacular view and a swing, to taste his homemade port wine. We also stopped at a wine coop in Vasco's home village and visited a local bread bakery using ancient ovens the same way for hundreds of years. Lastly, we finished the day feeling this trip was a highlight of our first visit to Portugal and gave us a unique insider's view of the Douro Valley, its history, and its wines. We highly recommend Grapeland Tours and *** for marketing them so well. ★

Great activity and perfect leisure to unwind, even with children, which was our case. Just to mention that they served port wine to tourists and Portuguese passengers only during the trip, and nothing against that, especially since they didn't taste great wine either, but a little more care in their treatment wouldn't have hurt them. We felt a little treated differently, but otherwise, the trip was okay, and that's what matters.
