Fontainebleau Palace sounds beautiful just from its name. There weren't many tourists, making for a very pleasant visit.

Great excursion. There were only 2 of us and the guide/ driver. She accommodated all our request and very knowledgeable. She explained in details about the places and we were on our own to learn and explore. There is audio guide provided and the one at Vieux de Vicompte is the best. We had plenty of time to explore the huge complex. Napoleon I lived in the Fontanbleau. I just learned that the Vieux de Vicompte was the precursor of the Versailles and unfortunately the builder was captured and tried for treason and died in jail just one year after the opening celebration of the castle.with 600 guests including Louis XIV He was probably jealous of him the with fateful outcome of him by the king! Sad and touching story.
