Reviews: 1-day tour to Nikko world heritage: Toshogu shrine & Lake Chūzenji & Kegon waterfalls & optional hot spring bath
Guest User2026-01-24
This trip was absolutely amazing. Toshogu Shrine is a World Heritage Site. Unlike typical Japanese aesthetics, it is resplendent and extremely luxurious, conveying behavioral principles through sculptures. The most famous is the use of monkeys to represent Confucius's teachings: "Do not look at what is improper, do not listen to what is improper, do not speak what is improper." Kegon Waterfall is crystal clear, its spray like shattered jade. Lake Chuzenji is serene and breathtaking, reminiscent of Switzerland. The Irohazaka Slope is thrilling and unforgettable. Our guide, Zhao, has superb driving skills, navigating corners with impeccable smoothness, comparable to a racing legend.
Reviews: Tokyo Nikko World Heritage Temple + Lake Chuzenji + Kegon Falls + Iroha Road Day Trip

Our tour guide, Xiao Hu, was extremely dedicated—speaking both English and Chinese clearly. The scenery along the way was exceptionally beautiful. It was definitely worth the ticket price! However, I think it's okay to skip going into the temples though.
Reviews: [E-ticket] Tobu Railway Nikko Pass (All Area 4-day Pass / World Heritage 2-day Pass)

I came comfortably via the internet, but the internet connection at Nikko is not as good as expected, so there may be cases where the pass does not appear properly.
Reviews: Nikko 1-day tour: World Heritage Site Toshogu Shrine + Lake Chūzenji + Kegon Waterfalls + Irohazaka Winding Road

Thanks to Mr. Wang's guidance, it became a very enjoyable memory! Mr. Wang carefully explained things to me in Japanese, as I cannot understand Chinese or English. It was also quite windy and cold on the day, but he was concerned about whether I was cold. Nikko was also full of tourists, but we managed to return to Tokyo without any delays by taking this into account in our schedule. It was fun!
