The best way to explore Nikko! I use Nikko Pass All area for 4 days, which costs one round trip to Yumoto onsen from the train station. All other trips are a bonus: boat cruise, bus to Hangetsusan, trains to Kinugawa onsen, free day visit to onsen in Kotoku Asteria hotel and even local trains from Asakusa to Tobu Nikko station. Great! Higher recommend.

Booking through trip.com (ctrip) was hassle-free. I paid and showed the page via the link they sent me before boarding. The train itself was also on schedule.

Always love a JR pass whenever we travel to Japan. We used the 3 day Tokyo wide pass in order to explore Nikko, Karuizawa, and Atami. Will book again in the future

The East Japan 10-Day Pass covers a wide area. From Tokyo to Aomori, the Shinkansen takes three to four hours, a long distance. Then, I traveled through Sendai, Matsushima, Fukushima, Omiya, Karuizawa, and Kawagoe Ichiban-gai. From Tokyo to the airport, it's very cost-effective. The JR buses in Aomori provide good connections between attractions, so I basically didn't need to buy additional bus tickets during my trip. Recommended.
