As a family of six—including two seniors—arriving in London from the East Coast U.S., this was hands-down the best way to start our trip. Our flight landed at 6:30 a.m., but check-in at our Airbnb wasn’t until 2 p.m., so we needed an activity to keep us awake, engaged, and moving just enough to avoid falling victim to jet lag.
The City Sightseeing Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour turned out to be the perfect solution. We were all feeling a little groggy from the flight, and being able to relax on the open-top bus while watching London unfold around us was just what we needed. With multiple routes and stops, the tour gave us a great introduction to the layout of the city and took us past all the iconic landmarks—Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Tower Bridge, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, and more.
The included audio guide was a helpful touch, offering bits of history and context that made the experience even richer. For our seniors, it was a thoughtful way to begin sightseeing without any pressure to walk or stand for long periods. Plus, it helped us plan out which sights we wanted to return to later in the trip.
One of the unexpected highlights was the Thames River Cruise by City Cruises (Hornblower), which was included in the $63 USD per person ticket. It was such a cool, scenic way to see the city from the water—relaxing, breezy, and offering totally different views of landmarks like the London Eye, Tower Bridge, and the Shard. It gave us a whole new perspective on the city, and the commentary onboard was both informative and lighthearted.
Overall, this tour was absolutely worth the price—especially for first-timers, families, or anyone looking to ease into the London experience after a long journey. It gave us just the right mix of activity and rest, with stunning views and smart planning baked in.★

Easy to go with this pass, most of the station you can see someone there to assist. Route is very convenient and easy to access to attractions. Bus stop is just right in front of the hotel entrance.
