Reviews: Gunung Ijen 1-day tour [bookable for 1 person | includes guide | optional departure from Banyuwangi or Bali]
Guest User2026-07-27
The blue of Sulfur Lake is so beautiful that it can be captured with a phone camera without any filters. The blue lights are artificial; many foreigners don't need them to avoid getting lost, as there are people along the way and small shops for supplies. The climb is strenuous, but our guide was excellent at keeping up with our pace and providing great service. It's worth seeing; it requires a certain level of physical fitness, but if you have superpowers, you could just pay for a Lamborghini and enjoy a painless hike. Booking through Ctrip is reliable, and we tipped everyone in the end, which was the best form of recognition.★

Reviews: Mount Ijen Crater Midnight Trekking And Blue Fire Experience
Guest User2026-08-12
Communication before the tour was great. The WhatsApp staff responded quickly, coordinated everything well.
The hike is good for regular hikers. It's very steep and exhausting, and you need to keep up so the group doesn't miss the blue fire or sunrise. you couldn't walk with your own comfortable pace. I'm a slow walker and was always last, so I felt pressured knowing everyone had to wait for me. However, the guides were excellent. One stayed with me and kept checking if I was okay.
Breathing was difficult not because the sulfer fume but because many hikers smoked along the trail.
The blue fire wasn't worth the descent for me. It's not a natural phenomenon. The gas leaks from pipes used in sulfur mining, and if it's not burning, the guide will light it. it was very tiny. The descent was steep, slippery, narrow, crowded, and often stuck in traffic jams.
The crater view from the top, however, was beautiful and worth it if you like hiking. If not, there're more easy options.★

Reviews: Mount Ijen Crater Trekking with Blue Fire and Breakfast from Surabaya/Malang
Guest User2026-10-14
The drive from Surabaya to Mount Ijin took seven hours. Along the way, the guide arranged rest stops and took us to buy supplies. The driver was very steady. At the volcano's crater entrance, the local guides were very professional and taught us how to exert ourselves, from which we learned a great deal of climbing experience.★

Reviews: Mount Ijen Blue Fire Sunrise Tour with Ferry from Bali – Overnight Hiking Adventure

I highly recommend visiting the volcano and taking in the incredible beauty that reigns at the summit. The views are breathtaking; it feels like another planet. A huge thank you to our dear guide, Sigit, for such a fascinating journey to the summit of Ijen. Sigit is a wonderful person; he shared so many interesting things about the island of Java, the volcano, and Indonesian culture, and helped us take beautiful photographs. We were lucky to celebrate my birthday in such warm and wonderful company at the top of this magnificent volcano. Thanks also to our driver, Kadek Edi, who met us and brought us right on schedule. An unforgettable trip; you'll remember the volcano for the rest of your life, one of the most beautiful places you'll ever see.★
