Reviews: Sabah Mount Kinabalu Dairy Farm Day Trip + ATV/Paragliding optional + Rafflesia roasted wild boar (optional, at your own expense)
Guest User2026-08-12
My day trip to Mount Kinabalu was the happiest day of my trip to Kota Kinabalu! I've seen many beautiful oceans around the world, but a tropical rainforest is a rare treat. It was a wonderful and enriching day. Our guide, Ali, was incredibly kind, patient, and attentive. I was traveling alone, and he took great care of me throughout the entire trip! The Mount Kinabalu viewpoint was breathtaking, the ATV experience was thrilling, the search for Rafflesia flowers was fascinating, the fruit market was delicious, and the dairy farm was absolutely stunning—it felt like a Malaysian version of Xinjiang! The roasted pork on the way down the mountain was also amazing! A visit to Mount Kinabalu is a must when in Kota Kinabalu; with the ocean on one side and the rainforest on the other, it was an unforgettable experience.
Reviews: Sabah Kawa Mangrove Forest Day Trip [Small group tour available | Mosque | Proboscis monkeys and fireflies]

Our tour guide, Xiao Ye, was excellent. We saw proboscis monkeys and macaques, and the most amazing thing was the fireflies. As night fell, we sailed to the mangrove forest, and the guide used special lights to attract the fireflies. When the fireflies twinkled and flew towards us, it was incredibly soothing and beautiful—a rare and delightful experience. The itinerary included a snack and a buffet dinner, which was quite good for the mangrove environment. A very successful trip.
Reviews: Kota Kinabalu Weston Mangrove Half-Day Tour with Fireflies and Sky Mirror at Kawa Weston

Overall, I was very satisfied with this mangrove forest and firefly tour. The sunset we saw was absolutely stunning, even more beautiful than the sunset at Tanjung Aru Beach. The afterglow was gorgeous and soothing, and every shot was photogenic. The only minor drawback was the long distance and time spent traveling, but this didn't detract from the overall enjoyment of the trip. Special thanks to Xiaoyong, whose service was exceptionally attentive and thoughtful throughout the trip. Our guide patiently explained the local customs and traditions, provided helpful reminders about safety precautions, and even proactively helped us find the best photo spots. We also thank our driver, who drove smoothly and reliably, was punctual, and provided a clean and comfortable vehicle. Both he and his companion were enthusiastic, reliable, and responsible throughout the trip. This was a pleasant and enjoyable trip, and I highly recommend it to everyone. I will definitely choose this tour again for my next trip.

A very good and comprehensive activity. They picked us up at our hotel and first took us to see Mount Kinabalu from a viewpoint (about a two-hour drive) in a shared van. Afterwards, we went on the quad bike activity, which was the 40 minutes we had booked. It was great fun, although you need to have a certain level of driving experience. Later, those who had booked the paragliding activity went on their own (otherwise, you had to pay an extra €90; it's better to book it directly through the app). I regret not booking that part in advance as it made me feel unsafe, although, being at the center where the activity took place, I saw that they were very professional. Afterwards, they took us to eat at a local restaurant. Then we went to see the wildflowers. The activity didn't include the entrance fee, but it was worth paying the 30 ringgit because we were able to see them. They have several areas where they usually grow, so it's very likely you'll be able to see them. Finally, we went to a dairy farm. Our guide was very nice.
