On July 19, 2026, I took a day trip. I had booked a large bus tour, but due to insufficient participants, I was upgraded to a smaller car tour for free, and luckily, I even got to sit in the front passenger seat. There were nine people in the group, half of whom were foreigners. Our driver and guide, Mimi, was a young woman from Beijing. She was fluent in both Japanese and English, very knowledgeable, and a skilled driver. She also cleverly avoided peak-hour parking queues (it was a three-day weekend in Japan, so there were many cars). The experience was excellent. The weather was also nice, mostly cloudy, with rain only at the end of our visit to Shikisai-gaoka. Although the lavender in Furano was almost finished blooming, and other flowers weren't in full bloom, on a sunny summer day, Biei felt like a scene from a manga.

What a wonderful tour guide! Lauren was always so friendly, approachable, and willing to go the extra mile to help. Your patience, generosity, and positive attitude made every interaction a pleasure. We visited all the attractions on the trip, and the flower fields were truly beautiful. It was an unforgettable journey.

Itinerary was very good. Every location was as described. Would recommend it, but do note there isn't much time to dwell or soak in the the attractions. Downside was that although we selected an English speaking tour, there wasn't any tour guide, and the driver could only speak Mandarin and Japanese, with no descriptions of the destinations in any language.
Reviews: Hokkaido Furano & Biei 1-Day Tour | Shirogane Blue Pond, Farm Tomita & Shikisai no Oka | Departing from Sapporo

Furano-Biei Tour. I am leaving with wonderful memories of Sapporo made with my family. The Blue Pond, Shikisai Hill, spacious restaurant, and Farm Tomita course were exactly the places I wanted. Although the weather was cloudy, we were lucky that it didn't rain; the only downside was that the lavender was past its prime, so the purple hues were faded. In particular, thanks to Guide Lisa's bright and meticulous attitude and explanations, we were able to have an enjoyable trip.

If you're planning a summer trip to Biei and Furano to see the flowers, and you're not going for an in-depth tour, and you're staying in Sapporo, then this sightseeing bus is the best option. Transportation to Biei and Furano is inconvenient. Taking the train yourself, whether to Asahikawa or Furano, and then visiting the various attractions scattered throughout Biei, Kami-Furano, and Naka-Furano, is very difficult unless you drive or hire a car. However, a domestic driver's license isn't valid for driving in Japan, and hiring a car is expensive. Joining this romantic flower-viewing tour is much more convenient. The bus departs from Sapporo at 8:00 AM and returns around 7:00 PM. Except for lunch, which is at your own expense, everything else is free, making it very cost-effective. Just the round-trip train fare from Sapporo to Furano or Asahikawa alone is around 500 yuan. That doesn't even include your own transportation costs to see the flowers. I departed from Sapporo that day and spent the whole day on the bus tour, arriving at the last attraction—the Fairy Terrace of the New Furano Prince Hotel—around 4:00 PM. I had booked a room at the Prince Hotel for that night, so I got off there and checked in, which was very convenient. Along the way, I had the pleasure of sitting next to our guide, Mr. Hayashi, and we chatted for the entire trip, which was very rewarding. Mr. Hayashi is an experienced guide who speaks fluent Chinese, English, and Japanese. He will add you on WeChat the afternoon or evening before to confirm the itinerary for the next day. You just need to arrive at the meeting point around 7:40 am the next morning.
