In the words of my 8 year old son “BEST DAY EVER!”. We caught the cable car to the viewing platform and climbed to the summit thereafter (permit required to access the summit). We spent 11 days in Tenerife and this was our last day excursion. We were lucky enough to access the summit of volcano with no other tourists around. We spent 30 minutes at the top taking photos and having a good look around at the crater and views. Things to note - If you drive like we did, the roads are long and winding. It’s about 70-90 minutes from most locations on the island. The drive is not for the faint hearted but is manageable. Parking was a bit of an issue. It’s super busy at any given time. We did get a space eventually but had to walk from the main road nearly to the cable car area at the base. Boarding is 20 minutes before you allocated cable car time. Be there or be square! They did leave without people who arrived late. If you are hoping to access the summit of the volcano you need to apply for a permit. We applied for this a number of months before our visit. Also, if you are going to attempt the summit be prepared for the altitude. Me and my son wholly underestimated the altitude situation. We had to stop nearly every 5 minutes to catch our breath. Took us around an hour to climbed to the top. Yes, parts of the track you will have to physically climb. Take plenty of water and snacks! All in all…. If you are going up there, go for the summit. Amazing experience and something me and my son will never forget!

A superb visit not to be missed during your stay. Pascal is passionate and helped us understand the importance of permaculture. It was an enriching visit from both a nature and human perspective. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I would honestly give more stars if I could!! 🤩🤣🙌 This was a fantastic excursion! Our guide (Fonzie 🤣) and driver were both brilliant, our guide was entertaining, fun and so knowledgeable, we learned so much today about Tenerife and the habitat, geology and geography and those of its neighbouring islands. The sights were wonderful, the driver was so skilful on those windy bendy roads, I was so happy we took the coach trip and DID NOT (😳) hire a car 🚙🙌 Definitely well worth the money! Thank you so much for an amazing day 😘 xx
