I was pleased to see that the pick up was on time and the various groups/toyrs were clearly separated at the meeting point. The guide was speaking very good English and his explanations made the bus ride to the volcano entertaining and informative. The hike up to the crater and the meeting spot for the geologist guide took me less than 15min but I saw many struggling and taking longer due to age, heat or physical unfitness. The geologist was very knowledgeable and tge views from the different corners of the crater were impressive. I found the tour very efficient and interesting★

The exploration of pompei and hurceuleam can only be brought to life by the knowledge and insight provided by an archaeologist. We had Sergio who was superb. Without his explanation of the sites and pointing out specific features that only a trained eye could do, I don’t think we would have enjoyed the visits half as much. Sergio was very knowledgeable and his communicative style was very clear, well structured and captivating. He explained key archeological highlights using storytelling techniques which really does keep your attention and makes the tour incredibly interesting.
Supporting the tour on the day was Francesco Calenda our driver who was very friendly and made our journey as comfortable as possible. He also did a great job in picking out key points of interest along the journeys between sites.
Thank you Sergio and Francesco for making our day great and a memorable one. Highly recommended★

Reviews: Pompeii & Herculaneum Day Trip from Naples with Lunch

What an amazing day! The team at Napoli City Vision were great. We chose the VIP small group tour and my daughter and I were picked up on time by the ever smiling and lovely tour manager Serena and driver Pepe. They already had the other couple we were doing the tour with on board.
As we were in a minivan and had Pepe driving we got through the chaotic Napoli morning traffic with ease. When we arrived at Pompeii there was ample time to see the markets and do a bit of souvenir shopping before Serena introduced us to our fantastic guide Maria.
The size of the Pompeii site and the amount of tourists means a great guide makes such a difference to what you see and learn while there. Maria had a wealth of not only knowledge but passion about Pompeii. She made sure we were always in the best spot to see interesting things and explained everything so well. At times the crowds were large but, while small in stature she was part Ninja and always got us to where she wanted to go.
At the end of the tour with Maria and the nice young couple from Chicago, who were only doing the Pompeii section of the tour, we parted ways and Serena got us to our lunch spot for an en extremely filling and yummy lunch.
As I t was just my daughter and I for the Herculaneum section Serena sorted mobile phone-like audio guides for us to explore and gave us a map with what she recommended we should see as well.
To Serena, Pepe and Maria, thank you so much. We would’ve given you 6 stars if it had let us!★

Reviews: Pompeii & Herculaneum Guided Tour - High Speed Train from Rome

We booked our Pompeii and Herculaneum trip through Askos Tours using the GetMyGuide app. Taking the high-speed train from Rome to Naples was so easy (we have friends who made the same trip but took a bus and it took four hours instead of one hour to get home). Our guide Michele (pronounced Michael) is in fact an archaeologist and was profoundly knowledgeable about everything we were seeing. Compared to those wandering around aimlessly with hand-held audio guides, we had an amazing day visiting these two incredible sites. Yes, it’s a long day of ruins (and dead people) but it was fascinating and Michele was personable, informative, helpful, warm, friendly and provided us a day we’ll remember for a very long time. Thank you Michele!
