The booking process through Trip.com was fairly straightforward, with an extra step required to reserve seats and select the train on the official high-speed rail website. One of the standout features is the flexibility offered: as long as you haven't collected your paper ticket at the station (note that digital tickets aren’t available for this type of booking), you can easily change or cancel your reservation for a different date or time, making adjustments hassle-free. However, be aware that the starting and destination stations can’t be changed after the booking. Once you’ve picked up your paper ticket at the counter using your passport, you’re still able to change your reservation once (either the date, time, or seat). The ticket also comes with a great discount, including a buy-one-get-one-free offer for two passengers, which is a fantastic money-saver for travelers. For foreigners, this deal is especially valuable.

I used this service for the following routes: Taipei-Tainan, Tainan-Chiayi, Chiayi-Tainan, and Tainan-Taipei. I was able to book online the first time, but after that I couldn't book online and had to book at the counter. Please be careful! I enjoyed the excitement of having stickers indicating my destinations attached to my ticket!
