Wonderful experience! Our guide Fabrizio was super professional yet friendly! The tour was tiring, but getting to the top was absolutely worth it!

It’s a long day but 100% worth the time and money. Massive shout out to Alessandro our guide - more that a guide he was a friend by the end of the trip. So the day starts with a mini bus upto ‘base camp’ of Etna where there’s a lot of hustle and bustle for tickets etc and queueing but Alessandro moved us to the pre paid queue and we waited maybe 20-25 mins shuffling along the queue towards the cable cars. Please bare in mind if it wasn’t for this we’d of being queuing maybe 45-50 mins just to get tickets for the cable cars then wait in line for the cable cars so it saves used loads of time doing it this way. Please bear in mind that there are a few ways up Etna and your guide asks you all individually how you’d like to do it - luckily our group all wanted to do the cable cars so I made life easier so can’t comment on other ways to get up ! Cable car was about 10 mins journey where you get in an another queue ( obviously the most popular route to take ) and waited for the big 4x4 trucks to take you upto another summit. From there it’s about a 10 mins hike up a medium ability loose lava track to the highest point you can go. 100% well worth the trek for the views and to look into two old volcanic craters. Then it’s down off Etna and onto the wine and nibbles ( not really lunch ) but it’s never stated as so but you can order from their menu if you wish , we had a focaccia which was nice then onto sample some liquors and honey etc with an option to buy. Then it was onto Taormina around 16.30 which we thought was quite late but…. It was so nice to see the sun setting over the harbour and walk around the narrow streets as the sun set , Taormina is a small place but definitely worth it - we got there just as the amphitheatre was closing so we missed out on that unfortunately but we enjoyed exploring the shops and gelato on offer - we had about 2 hours in Taormina which personally felt wasn’t enough - But after a long day up Etna I felt it was enough as everyone was getting tired by then. I’d recommend trying to get a train to Taormina for the day if staying in Catania as you do miss a fair bit on this tour but a good taster if you just want a picture opportunity. Please bare in mind and they do stress it when booking that the additional journeys up Etna from ‘base camp’ aren’t included and the cable car - 4x4 and guide is an extra £80 per person so for this trip look at spending £170pp to make the most of it plus extras - would I spend that amount again for a 12 hour trip? 100% - a must do when in the area and I strongly doubt you’ll be disappointed
