The meeting point was right by the Starbucks at the east-shiroku exit of Hakata Station, and we departed right on time. Some tourists overslept and didn't even wait. They were very punctual.
The bus was in excellent condition, with plenty of air conditioning. The guide was very welcoming.
Kumamoto Castle and Mount Aso were both great. Despite the heat, Kumamoto Castle was worth visiting; it's air-conditioned and offers a panoramic view from above. There were also many delicious dishes on the first floor. The horse meat fried cakes were delicious, and the limited-edition watermelon soda was very quenching.
Due to Mount Aso's active season, we couldn't get the bus to our nearest viewing location, which was a shame.
The ice cream on the mountain was delicious and worth trying. The set lunch menu was also good, though a bit pricey up there. The air was nice, and walking on the grass was much cooler than at the foot of the mountain.★

The scenery along the way was worth the price of admission. It was so beautiful the whole way. I kept taking photos with my camera. The guide, Heather, was also very sweet and considerate. I even made some friends along the way. It was fun. Although it rained heavily and my shoes got soaked, Kitakyushu has a unique charm in the rain.★

This was the most worthwhile day trip in Fukuoka. Although it rained a bit in Takachiho, so we didn't get to see the clear river, the light rain didn't affect us at all. Walking along the mountain trails was great for absorbing negative ions. We were lucky to see Mount Aso, and the odor wasn't overpowering. Our guide, Ms. Jingling, was very thorough and interactive throughout the trip. The driver was also very steady. It was a truly wonderful day.★
