The eight of us, who had planned a backpacking trip, only had one day to spare in Dali. We planned to take a train from Kunming the night before, do a day tour, and then return to Lijiang the next morning. We initially considered taking a taxi or bus, but decided that a private charter tour, while a bit more expensive, would be more cost-effective. The charter driver was attentive, using his smartphone to translate and always parking close to our destination. Thanks to him, we had a comfortable one-day tour. About 100 meters from the entrance to Heungnang Ancient Town, across from a public restroom, there was a coffee shop with a nice atmosphere and very affordable price. They grinded coffee beans on the spot and made Americano for 5 yuan. Maxim Coffee was 5 yuan elsewhere. Shuanglang Ancient Town wasn't that great. The S-shaped riverside road was a great photo opportunity. Chongqing Temple with its three pagodas was also nice.★

Xizhou Old Town transported us to a bygone era, and Wase's charm left us captivated. The Haidong Wetlands offered a serene respite, and Jinsuo Island's beauty was breathtaking. Great trip. Simple, picked us up from hotel, bus out to the TLG, with a couple of short and simple photo or generel interest stops, then into the gorge. An hour or so for us to explore. Bought our own tickets for the escalator back up. We used our wechat account to communicate with the tour people, made it very easy. We didn't opt for the lake option because it was near our hotel. Left hotel in the morning, back by around 2/3 pm.Thanks.★

We really enjoyed both locations, Shaxi town and Shibao Mountain. The driver was very safe and patiently waited for us to complete our sightseeing. The booking and pick up scheduling was smooth and communication through WeChat was fine. Recommended!
