Challenge yourself to a healthy dose of adrenaline while paddling amongst the Rocky Mountain giants. This adventure on the Athabasca River begins at the base of the thundering Athabasca Falls. Surge through Class II rapids as you take in breath-taking views of Jasper National Park's snow-capped peaks.
Meet us in the RV Parking lot in the Jasper townsite (located across the train tracks from the traffic lights at the corner of Connaught and Hazel). Please arrive at this location 15 minutes prior to your trip time.
After a 30-minute bus ride from town, suit up in your wetsuit gear. After a safety talk, there is a 5-minute portage to the river. This river trip starts with a bang. Once out in the main current, the first set of rapids is only seconds away. Once these rapids have soaked everyone in the raft, find yourself in a canyon.
For the next 30 minutes, enjoy mountain views and splashes as the the river winds out of the canyon. The Athabasca Falls trip ends with another set of rapids and spectacular views of the Athabasca River valley. Once back at the highway, it is a gentle 20-minute to the take-out. After your trip, remove your gear, board the bus, and head back to the RV Parking area.
River time is approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes, and the round trip time is 3 hours.
