On this 1.5-hour walking tour of Amsterdam's most famous and beautiful district, you'll learn more about the history of this former working-class neighborhood, which in recent decades has become the city's most desirable area. Despite its radical transformation, the Jordaan has retained its authentic charm with its 17th-century backstreets and bridges. You'll have plenty of opportunities to stop, take in the views and capture some photos.
The tour begins at the Anne Frank Monument, our meeting point right around the corner from the famous Anne Frank House, where you'll get a brief insight into the story of Anne Frank and her life in hiding. From there, your guide will lead you through the picturesque streets of the Jordaan, passing along the canals and by the most beautiful areas this district has to offer.
Your guide will also tell you about the 400-year-old canal system, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010. Last but not least, you will visit a secret garden, one of the many hidden courtyards the Jordaan has to offer. In this green oasis you will learn about the tulip mania which occurred in the 17th century. Your guide will of course also be happy to answer your questions and will provide you with tips and suggestions for the remainder of your stay in Amsterdam.
