Itinerary
After picking you up at the agreed meeting point between 6:00 and 6:40 in the morning, we will head towards the Atacama Desert, stopping for a full breakfast. Our first stop will be Toconao, an indigenous village with characteristic white buildings. During our visit we will learn about the history and traditions of the Toconares, and discover the church of San Lucas and its bell tower, which date back to the 18th century and have been declared national monuments. Later, if time permits, we will travel to Chaxa Lagoon, a place of spectacular beauty that is divided into several bodies of water and where we can see flamingos. For approximately one hour, we will walk along the Piedras Rojas trail. There we will see a beautiful salt flat. In addition, we will have the opportunity to see the famous Miscanti and Miñiques lagoons of the highlands, and their respective volcanoes of the same name. If we are lucky, we may encounter endemic fauna of the place, such as vicuñas, foxes and flamingos. At midday we will stop to replenish our energy with lunch. This meal will take place en route or in a restaurant on the way back to San Pedro. Lunch en route includes a main course and a drink, while the restaurant menu consists of 2 courses (you can choose one of them) and a drink. After replenishing our energy, we will travel to Piedras Rojas, one of the most amazing places in Chile. The oxidation of the rocks of the plateau has created a reddish environment that seems to have sprung from the imagination. A unique landscape in the world! Here we will also be able to appreciate the emerald waters of the Salar de Aguas Calientes lagoon, a corner that will win you over from the first moment. Finally, we will return to San Pedro de Atacama and we will leave you in the square in the center of the town or in a central point in the surroundings. Arrival is expected at approximately 6:00 p.m.
