Reviews: Japan Hokkaido + Noboribetsu + Jigokudani + Lake Toya + Otaru one-day tour

The trip was nice although the call time at the end was much earlier than what I expected, which made me want to stay in Otaru longer. Also, I felt like the guide was quite pushy with buying some of the products (horse oil) at the stopover. Anyhow, the guide was quite nice to explain both stuff in English and in Mandarin, and he was responsive with my questions and requests to take photos, so the trip was okay. By the way, for this trip, it’s more of a you-go-around kind, so don’t expect the tour guide to show you all of the stuff.

Thao Island was humorous and engaging, and the itinerary was well-planned. This time we parted ways in Noboribetsu, but I'd love to experience the whole tour again next time.

Wonderful tour and great snowmobiling experience (JPY20000/2 pax/snowmobile or JPY15000/pax/snowmobile, extra payment in cash only). Get to taste some local farms milk-based products (yogurt, pudding and gelato). A great trip!

It was nice, a whirlwind day trip.

Even though it was just the two of us, the trip wasn't canceled. We were lucky enough to have a sunny day and see Mt. Yotei. Our guide was very kind and patient, explaining Hokkaido's history and culture, today's itinerary, and attractions to us along the way. He also recommended some delicious food and snacks. We had a great time!

Both snowmobiling and the bear ranch are worth experiencing. Before setting off, I thought they were similar, but in the end, I went to both. Snowmobiling is better with one per person (15,000 yen per snowmobile, cash only). At the bear ranch, it's 1,000 yen per person, and food is 200 yen per bag, also cash only. You can bring apples—I love their apples—it's really cool! The itinerary is a bit hardcore, so buy plenty of convenience store snacks to eat on the go.
