The trip to the Killing Field and Toul Sleng Genocide Museum packs a heavy emotional toll, but is really not to be missed when visiting Cambodia. Seeing the killing tree, the memorial pagoda with all of the stacked skulls, and the brick and wood cells that they used to transform what was once a school into a torture prison was really moving and helped shed light on the atrocities of the Khmer Rouge regime. Without experiences like this, all of those who were killed would not be remembered, which would be a great disservice to their sacrifice and to the country as it still deals with the ramifications of this level of self-destruction.★
