Lantern Making Class With Lynn

Welcome to our lantern-making class! We are a family with a tradition of making lanterns in Hoi An. As tourism is booming, we would like to spread our love and desire for lanterns as well as inherited the tradition that ran in the family. We believe that this would be a great chance for those who want to learn about the history of lantern and how it is made. On top of that, this class can be considered a good way for tourists to interact with local people and make yourself a lovely souvenir to bring home.

Before getting into the making of your own lanterns, you will have a chance to get to know about all the materials that make up a lantern. In this long class, you will craft your own lantern from scratch, using a bamboo frame and fabric of your choice. You will learn how to cut, bend and glue the bamboo pieces to form the shape of your lantern. Then you will select a fabric from a variety of colors and patterns, and stick it on the frame with glue. You will also learn about the history and culture of lantern making in Hoi An. This class is suitable for anyone who loves crafts and wants to take home a unique souvenir.
