Reviews: Porto: The Wine Experience, Best Wine Museum in the World

The Wine Experience was a very interesting exhibition - as a wine lover it was really cool to see the process of how wine is made and learn more about the history of winemaking in Portugal. The exhibition is high quality and was very quiet when I visited. The tasting at the end was very good (and tasty!).

Crossing the Louis I Bridge, I arrived at the FONSECA wine cellar during the evening blues. The guided tour hall and exhibition hall, filled with the aroma of wine, immediately heightened my anticipation for the subsequent fado performance and dinner. And indeed, I experienced a fantastic show! Even some of my fellow travelers from the US went up to sing along – it was wonderful! Dinner was a traditional Portuguese three-course meal, quite good, no exaggeration. Everything ended around 9 PM. I walked along the winding path illuminated by the evening lights, feeling peaceful and serene – this moment was truly beautiful!

We had to wait 5 minutes for the next tasting (since there were only two of us)... no problem... but when the next people were called in for their tasting, we were told to wait again. Everyone else had been given priority and we were told to wait... what's the point of that? We left... without a tasting... a shame, because the museum would have been very interesting and educational (especially if you don't know anything about winemaking).
Reviews: Porto: Douro Valley with Winery Lunch, Tastings & Cruise

Great tour! We passed through a very charming town early in the morning, then went to another town and enjoyed a traditional Portuguese lunch, drank many glasses of wine (all included), then went on a boat trip (beautiful location) and finally visited another winery, a producer of Port wine (more glasses of wine) and then returned to Porto. Excellent value for money.

There are quite a few slopes along the way, but you'll find plenty of scenery to explore. The latest session I saw was at 5:45 PM, which included a very detailed introduction and audio guide. There were also machines to take photos and send them via email, making for a great experience. After the session, there was a wine tasting.

The Duoro Valley scenery is beautiful and there are a number of stops in between the bus tour including two winery visits with wine tasting provided. Tour guide Ricardo is funny and professional
