We had an amazing experience with our Amy tour guide in China. The trip to the Great Wall and the Summer Palace was absolutely unforgettable. Our guide was very knowledgeable, professional, and friendly, and explained the history in a way that was easy to understand and really interesting. Everything was well organized, and we always felt taken care of. The Great Wall was breathtaking, and the Summer Palace was beautiful and peaceful. I booked a VIP tour this time, and the itinerary was very packed, with five or six boat trips in total, making it a fairly in-depth tour.
The Mekong River didn't look very clear; the water was quite yellow and covered with water hyacinths, but there was no unpleasant odor.
The island had many plants (various fruits) and animals (pythons, crocodiles, catfish, etc.), and the guide led the tour, providing very enthusiastic explanations. At the narrow section of the river where boats were manually rowed, the guide mentioned that a tip was expected for the rowers. Before the tour ended, the guide suggested that if we were satisfied with the trip, we could also tip him; I felt I had to give him something, otherwise I'd feel awkward.★
