Get to see a side of Mumbai that most people miss through a story that turns this city into a living character and the guide takes on the role of a narrator who takes you through the storyline that talks about the various morning activities of this city. This scripted storyline is titled, "Before The City Roars".
The tour starts at 6 am from the busiest part of the city which is relatively calm during this time and filled with essential markets. We begin with a group ice-breaking session and then the guide reads the introduction of the story to begin the journey. We start the tour with a stroll through the newspaper market where various vendors are busy sorting the freshly arrived stock by categorizing it into various languages, we make our way to the amazing Flower Market and understand the flow of trade and watch an explosion of colour and people.
We catch a local train to take in the morning breeze and arrive at the heart of the modern Financial District filled with skyscrapers. Amidst these towering structures, we catch a bird's-eye view of the Dhobi Ghat, the famous open-air laundry colony. Now, it's time for a beautiful drive in a black and yellow taxi where we go over the city's newest coastal road and take a quick stop at the iconic Marine Drive and finally arrive at our destination which is the oldest fishing dock. Here, we surround ourselves with the city's native population and watch them in action as the fish trading goes on.
Now, we ease the pace with a bus ride and watch the regular local residents as they prepare to start their day. We get down right in front of a legendary breakfast cafe and taste their freshly prepared signature dish- Keema Pav (minced mutton curry served with bread) / veg options available as well. After fueling up with protein, we take a short walk to the Gateway of India. From here, we catch a bus to take a trip into the city's memory lane and learn about the city's past. We get down in front of the grandest train station of India, CSMT. From here, we walk to another historic neighbourhood filled with old markets and religious sites. We catch a glimpse of the city's most beautiful mosque and then offer a prayer to a goddess after whom this city is named. The tour ends outside the temple at a nearby junction from where we get to see the city to be fully awake, our guide reads the ending of the story as the morning rush hour begins.
