The open-air carriage slowly departs from Takachiho Station, following the former Takachiho Railway, taking you on a journey between the mountains and sea of clouds.

Takachiho Gorge is a valley formed by the ancient eruption of Mount Aso. It is characterized by cliffs on both sides and features the 17-meter-high Manai Falls.

Mount Aso is located in northeastern Kumamoto Prefecture on Kyushu Island. As one of Japan's famous active volcanoes, it features a rare caldera formation seldom seen worldwide. It's also one of the few volcanoes where visitors can observe it up close.

Train fare reference: high school students and above ¥2,000; elementary and middle school students ¥1,300; preschool children ¥700

※ The small train will not operate on the third Thursday of each month due to inspection.

※ On days when the mini train is under inspection, the itinerary will be changed to Takachiho Shrine.

※ In case the train ride is unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances such as weather or holidays, the itinerary will be adjusted to include a visit to Takachiho Shrine instead.

Mount Aso - Nakadake Crater (※If the crater is under restricted access, the itinerary will be adjusted based on the actual situation.)

Change & cancellation policies

If a cancellation request is submitted before 12:00 AM, 6 day(s) prior to the date of use, no cancellation fee will be charged.

If a cancellation request is submitted before 12:00 AM 5 day(s) before the date of use, a fee of 50% will be charged.

A fee of 100% will be charged for cancellations requested before 11:59 PM on the day of date of use.

If a discount is applied, the cancellation fee will be calculated based on the original price before the discount and will not exceed the amount paid.

Partial refund is not available.
