The Art Institute of Chicago, founded in 1879, is the second largest art museum in the United States, second only to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and is also a must-visit attraction on TripAdvisor's "Things to Do in Chicago" list. The museum houses over 300,000 works, covering modern and contemporary Western paintings, Eastern art from China and Japan, as well as ancient Egyptian, Greek, and Roman artifacts. The museum has four floors of exhibition space, including a basement level (Egyptian galleries) and three above-ground floors. We recommend visiting the Chinese galleries on the first floor, the Impressionist, American Art, and Contemporary Art sections on the second floor, and the Modern Art exhibits on the third floor.
Riverwalk
The Chicago River is a river that runs through Chicago and serves as an important geographical landmark of the city.
The river stretches wide with gentle emerald waters, dotted at intervals by steel drawbridges spanning both banks. Even more astonishing, some bridges have subways thundering overhead—a truly breathtaking sight of multi-level transportation.
