This was my first time buying a pass. Normally I just use my IC card to pay per trip, but this time I decided to try buying one since I hadn't seen many reviews. Personally, I found it easy to use and not complicated at all. It allows unlimited rides on designated trains and buses within 5 days. For me, it was worth the price.★

The mountain was a great uphill walk and on the day we were there we got an excellent view of Mount Fuji from the top. Our guide, Jeff, was friendly and had a good knowledge of the mountain and various sites of Japanese cultural significance along the walk. Jeff also joined us for lunch which was helpful when communicating with the staff at the restaurant in the town at the base of the mountain given we were not fluent speaking Japanese. One area where slight improvement would be possible would have been if our guide had spoken a little more softly when at the sacred points of cultural significance along the way. I felt some of the locals would have preferred that, as they were evidently there for peaceful reflection and our presence was potentially disruptive to their experience. That said though, the tour was definitely a good day and it was great to visit somewhere outside of central Tokyo where there were relatively few tourists. It felt like a very genuine Japan experience.★

It covers Tokyo Metro + Toei Subway lines and gave us unlimited rides for three full days, which made hopping between neighborhoods (Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ginza, Asakusa) effortless. Activation is simple — the timer starts the first time you pass through a gate — so activate it when you begin a full day of sightseeing to get the most value. We paired the pass with a Suica card for JR lines and airport transfers, which worked well.★
