Reviews: Day Tour Zaanse Schans, Lego Village and Giethoorn Incl. Hotel Pick Up

It was a perfect trip. Our guide, Deng, was incredibly professional, providing explanations of everything from the sights to the local customs and culture of the Netherlands, making the trip truly worthwhile. My personal suggestion is that you definitely need a talkative person in the front passenger seat; the more you talk, the better Deng will perform.

The windmill villages and Giethoorn were picturesque, and our guide, Su Rui, was enthusiastic, providing punctual pick-up and drop-off – a great experience! At lunchtime, Su Rui recommended Chinese and Western restaurants for us to choose from, and my travel companion and I enjoyed a delicious bowl of beef noodles and beef rice! 😛

When I first started planning my trip, I read some posts from other travelers and thought I could go on my own. However, when I checked public transportation in Giethoorn, I realized it wasn't practical, as it would take up most of the day to travel. So, I booked a day tour instead, which was honestly a bit pricey. However, the tour and experience were fantastic. The bus driver explained Dutch history and geography along the way to Giethoorn, and also introduced the main attractions and buildings we saw. It was definitely worth booking the tour (by the way, sit on the right side of the bus, as most of the attractions mentioned are on the right). Giethoorn is definitely worth a visit; the houses and water of the entire village create a unique, beautiful, and tranquil scene.

Mukti was AMAZING! We ended up having a tour just for the two of us since the other couple didn't show, and Mukti had so much knowledge to share -- almost every minute we were with him, he had something interesting to tell us. I have no idea how he was able to remember all that information! The tour itself was great - we saw so much! We went in February, so it was freeeeeezing in Gieethorn (if you're travelling in winter, bring warm things!). We bought some snacks for the tour but didn't need any at all. Definitely recommend booking this tour if you're visiting Amsterdam!! A must! Thank you so much, Mukti!

I originally booked a Chinese-language tour, but there weren't any available that day, so I switched to an English-language tour. Everyone else in the group was a foreigner. Our guide and driver, Reinier, was a young Chinese man who spoke fluent Chinese and would sometimes speak to me separately in Chinese. Overall, it was a great trip. The guide was thoughtful, providing water, umbrellas, chargers, etc., and didn't rush me. His explanations were excellent. The scenery was stunning. Apparently, it's the off-season now, so there were fewer people, but still quite a few. A very worthwhile day trip.
