▲ The entire town stands isolated, "floating" atop a mountain, connected to the outside world only by a narrow bridge—a true real-life version of Civita di Bagnoregio! Don't be fooled by its ethereal appearance, though. Due to earthquakes and soil erosion, it has long become a "solitary island" on land and has been listed among the "100 Most Endangered Sites" globally, giving the impression that every glimpse might be one of the last. Today, only a few dozen permanent residents remain on the island, mostly seniors guarding their ancestral homes.

▲ Civita di Bagnoregio, said to be the inspiration for the castle in the sky from Hayao Miyazaki's film, hence earning the nickname "The City in the Sky." This ancient town was built during the Etruscan civilization, measuring approximately 300 meters long and 200 meters wide. Perched atop volcanic tuff, it suffered several earthquakes and collapses, and by the 19th century, it could only be accessed via a one-kilometer-long bridge, making it appear like a floating castle from afar.
