Reviews: 1-day tour to Asahiyama Zoo + Ningle Terrace + Shirahige Waterfall in Hokkaido, Japan

This Hokkaido day trip was a real gem! Our tour guide was Chinese, and she was incredibly kind and considerate. She spoke so gently! We were visiting three attractions today, and the timing was perfect! Because Hokkaido's weather is unpredictable, and there's always the possibility of unexpected situations on highways and mountain roads, she was amazing! She kept a close eye on the road conditions, and everything was perfect! The time allotted for each attraction was also very reasonable! At one of the three attractions, we encountered a blizzard, and she was so worried we'd get cold and slippery that she kept reminding us to bundle up and walk carefully. Her explanations weren't rigid; she shared many interesting local anecdotes, and at the snowy spot, she told us it was a rare and beautiful sight, helping us capture many stunning snowscape photos. Traveling with her felt like traveling with my own sister—so reassuring! I highly recommend her to anyone going to Hokkaido!

Our Chinese-speaking tour guide was from mainland China (Sister Bingbing). The meeting point was easy to find. The zoo was given a fair amount of time for a day trip, but it was just so much fun, and with lunch included, we felt the time was insufficient. The snowmobiles were really fun, and the snow at Shikisai-oka was perfect for snow activities. The guide also recommended the bakery next to the Fairy Terrace; the bread was absolutely delicious. Because the return trip to Sapporo took a while, we only had time for a short visit to the Fairy Terrace. Exploring all the shops on the terrace would take quite a bit of time. However, for just browsing and taking photos, the time was enough! It was my first time on a day trip, and I had a wonderful time. The beautiful snowy scenery along the way was truly breathtaking, especially for someone from my country who rarely sees snow!

This trip was fantastic. First, our tour guide, Xiaoyu, was incredibly patient, helping every tourist who needed assistance. Throughout the trip, she tirelessly shared many interesting local history and cultural stories, which I, as a tourist, listened to attentively and found very helpful and informative. She also patiently guided us through the meeting points and ensured safety, providing excellent service. Second, the driver's skills were superb. Despite the challenging driving conditions in the icy and snowy conditions, he still managed to get everyone to our destination safely and on time. Thank you both for your hard work; the entire trip was excellent, and I would definitely choose Xiaoyu again next time.

The trip went very well. The weather was perfect. Lily is the best toor guide. She is very considerate of our safety and make sure we meet our needs, not get lost in our free time in every attraction we visited. She is very cheerful and willing to start a conversation with interesting information. I sat with the her during the tour and got the very front seat. It was amazing. I can take many great photos. Thanks to her.

😊 Sanny absolutely killed it as our tour guide at Ashimaya Zoo! His passion for wildlife was infectious and made the whole experience so much fun 🤩. He shared crazy fun facts about the animals, like how the monkeys have a secret society 🐒 (ok, maybe not secret, but Sanny made it sound like it). His knowledge and energy made the tour super engaging – I loved every minute! Highly recommend Sanny if you're looking for a fun, informative guide at Ashimaya Zoo 👍. 5 stars!l

The scenery was absolutely stunning after the snowfall, with beautiful views all along the way. The zoo was fantastic, especially the Emperor Penguins. There's a penguin walking show after December 12th, but you can already get quite close inside the zoo. All the animals can be observed up close. With only two hours, I recommend taking the middle path down, then exploring the predators on the right, and finally the polar animals on the left, following an S-shaped route. The Lonely Tree offers views from the vehicle, and the Whitebeard Waterfall and Green Pool are absolutely gorgeous. Walking along the path, with the glacier water and the surrounding scenery, felt like stepping into a fairyland. Finally, head to the terrace, which is itself a world-class ski resort. The terrace is filled with exquisite handicrafts, but it gets quite crowded, making it difficult to take photos. The itinerary is tight, so buy plenty of food for the car. If it's snowing, definitely wear crampons, as it's easy to slip and fall when walking from the parking lot to the terrace. Don't be late, as it will delay the entire trip and significantly impact your return journey, as road conditions are not ideal and traffic jams or closures are common.
