our guide did a really good job catching all the interesting stops and providing color commentary throughout the day. The volcano was putting out a lot of smoke/steam, but no hot rocks. Transportation was well coordinated both directions. It's a long day. Wear really comfortable shoes.★

I was picked up punctually at the agreed meeting point and driven safely up the mountain. The bus driver told many interesting stories. The sunrise on Haleakala was beautiful. As the sun came out, the locals sang a welcoming chant, "e ala e," a traditional sunrise song, which deeply touched me. We had breakfast at the Tropical Plantation restaurant, a very nice place, and the breakfast was delicious. All in all, a fantastic trip and I would 100% recommend it. Mahalo 🌺★

Reviews: Maui: Halfway to Hana Black Sand Beach & Turtles Tour

It was fine. Lots of driving on mountainous switchbacks, so if that will make you car sick, this wouldn’t be for you. We were in an 8 pax van, and for our trip it was 5 plus the driver. If we’d had another 2 pax, we would’ve been smooshed in uncomfortably. Driver talked incessantly, some helpful, some just chatter. The black sand beach is a really rocky area that isn’t conducive for getting in the water. All the stops were good, just not amazing. I am not at all unhappy to do the partial trip to Hanna because this shows you everything without it being too long of a day.
