[Chichen Itza Pyramid]Chichen Itza, meaning "at the mouth of the well of the Itza," was built by the Maya civilization and is one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. The entire attraction contains numerous ancient ruins, with the most famous being the Pyramid of Kukulkan. During the spring and autumn equinoxes, at sunrise and sunset, the corners of the structure cast a serpent-like shadow on the northern staircase of the pyramid, which appears to slither down as the sun moves. If you're fortunate enough to visit on these days, this spectacle is absolutely not to be missed.
Cenote: Located near the Chichen Itza attraction, as the Yucatan Peninsula has few surface rivers, the local cenotes naturally became gathering places for the ancient Maya people.
The town of Valladolid: Sharing its name with the famous Spanish city of Valladolid, it is a landmark colonial city established during the Spanish conquest of the Yucatán Peninsula, with its central Catholic church being its most iconic feature.
