Reviews: The Lava Tunnel Tour - Raufarhólshellir

This tour was the first of our trip on day 1 and we loved it! We had an 12pm time scheduled but we arrived quite early and they let us switch our tour time- so very accommodating. Our guide Mackayla was knowledgeable, personable, and funny. The hour long tour was the perfect amount of time to learn a lot and still get a great experience. Very informative tour and would definitely recommend! It’s an easy walk but very uneven and I would suggest wearing hiking boots and being able to walk with no issues. It was colder than I expected so I’m glad I wore a heavy coat.

A truly impressive lava tunnel. I just wish there were fewer artificial, colorful lights. The natural scenery is impressive enough as it is.

Julian was an amazing guide with lots of knowledge. I was picked up right on time from my hotel and the day consisted of waterfalls, lava tunnel, geysirs and some lesser known spots that were quiet and away from any crowds! We had lunch at the dairy farm and had some (delicious) ice cream afterwards, this was a lovely stop off and felt like such a treat and a part of real Icelandic culture! Such a perfect day and I would 100% recommend to anyone visiting Iceland that wants to see it all like I did!
