Trip Overview
Depart from the meeting point in central Paris at 9:15 am and head to the Château de Fontainebleau. After a 1 hour and 15 minute drive, you'll enter the Fontainebleau Forest and arrive directly at the impressive castle.
Fontainebleau is a royal and imperial castle that has been continuously inhabited for seven centuries. Dating back to the 12th century, it served as one of the residences for French rulers from Francis I to Napoleon III.
After the tour, you can freely explore the vast park surrounding the castle and its three picturesque gardens.
Then you can enjoy lunch on the lawn or at the restaurant in Fontainebleau Palace.
In the afternoon, we will head to Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte to begin the second leg of our journey, which is just a 45-minute drive.
Vaux-le-Vicomte and its gardens are masterpieces of mid-17th century classical architecture, created by three brilliant artists who worked for Nicolas Fouquet, the wealthy French superintendent of finances under Louis XIV. Following the audio guide route, you'll explore Nicolas Fouquet's private apartments, state rooms, as well as the castle's grand kitchens and vaulted wine cellars. The narration provides an incredible 3D audio experience, adding a whole new dimension to your castle visit.
You still have time to enter the dome of Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte and admire the magnificent views of the castle park. You can also take time to stroll through the splendid French gardens of the 35-hectare estate, featuring sculpted hedges, water features, and vibrant flower beds.
Departing from Vaux le Vicomte at 5:00 PM, scheduled to arrive in downtown Paris around 6:30 PM.
