Reviews: Nicaragua Full Day Tour from Costa Rica
Guest User2025-12-29
Awesome day, so sad that the day flew by! Smooth and seamless transfer by David in the morning to the Nicaraguan border, where we were expertly picked up by Elmer and Wilbur. Took us around the locations; Elmer answered all questions and showed us his beautiful country. He also took care of all the logistics to ensure all went according to plan. The food was amazing, as was the volcano and the history/geography facts that Elmer provided. Elmer is very knowledgeable and understanding. On the return to Costa Rica, Jerson picked us up; he was equally as accommodating, letting us stop for dinner and gave me an awesome chance to practice my Spanish! He was incredibly personable and I learned a lot about his family and dog! We had a very good long conversation from the border all the way back to the hotel; the hours flew by! Really grateful for all the guides and drivers, can't wait to come back to Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Pura vida y Deacachimba!
Reviews: Private Day Tour Exploring Masaya and Granada in Nicaragua

Me and my daughter did the tour and it was amazing. Our tour guide Anthony did an awesome job! He was prompt picking us up and that is important to me. The car was very clean and we felt safe the entire time. He was very knowledgeable about the history of Nicaragua and the places he took us and he was very personable. I also really appreciate how respectful he was of my daughter being very polite and opening her door when we stopped. We stopped in Granada where we visited a cacao making shop. The smell was amazing and it was a great experience. We then went to the market and learned some history and grabbed souvenirs. Next we headed to this massive lake and hung on the beach for a moment while he shared more knowledge of Nicaragua. Next it was off to the boat ride. We learned about the many islands on the lake, who owned them, and the history of a few. After that it was off to the lagoon. This was my favorite part. The lagoon was absolutely beautiful. Me and my daughter took a short horseback ride and Anthony took some amazing candid pics for us. We grabbed a couple more souvenirs and headed back. We were extremely pleased with the tour and our Guide. I highly recommend the tour and Anthony specifically.

We actually booked this tour through the Trip Advisor site. We opted for the 3 hour, under 10 people and were very glad we did. Unfortunately we didn’t check our email that morning and found out once we were at the meeting place that our tour had been delayed because of over crowding. Not really a problem since we were just down the street at the Washington Irving Hotel. Our tour guide was a wonderful man named So. Incredibly knowledgeable, spoke 5-6 languages. We started in the gardens. Unbelievably beautiful. The sense of walking where Sultans walked in the 12-1300’s was really cool. Even though it was crowded, it wasn't overly so. Do try to go earlier in the day. I think it just gets more and more crowded as the day goes on. You will also need to book months in advance, especially during busy tourist times. We went in late October and bought the tickets at the end of August. Do not miss this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
