I'll list the positive aspects: the bus picked us up on time, the air conditioning was on and it was very warm, and our guide, Jessie, was very kind and helpful! She speaks very good English! Mina was fluent and detailed in her explanations of the summer palace. I was lucky as the only tour participant, She suggested meeting earlier in order to avoid the weekend crowds which proved to be a good idea. She also gave good historical context on how the palace and grounds were constructed and used and offered additional tips for exploring the grounds after our tour ended.

I'd like to share my experience. It's warm on the wall on January 8th. The temperature is just above freezing. Those accustomed to Far Eastern and Siberian winters with temperatures of -20-30 degrees Celsius will find it very comfortable. We haven't tried the green route. It's shorter (1.5 hours) and easier. We climbed the red route (2.5 hours) from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, taking 40 minutes each way. From 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM, it's a stroll. From 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, it's a dash up steep steps. The steps are of varying sizes. Watch your step. Wear light shoes. And don't dress too warmly. A wet back, and maybe even something else, will ruin the experience. It's better to dress lightly and sportily, and pack some extra gear in case the wind picks up.

Today, we visited the Great Wall, the Summer Palace, and the Old Summer Palace with our group. The itinerary was very well-planned, making the entire trip both relaxing and fulfilling. Our guide, Ding Feipeng, provided professional, detailed, and humorous explanations, making the historical and cultural information vivid and easy to understand. He not only allowed us to see the beautiful scenery but also to learn about the stories behind it. Throughout the trip, he offered thoughtful reminders, took good care of us, and patiently answered everyone's questions. His service was exceptionally attentive. This was a fantastic travel experience. Many thanks to our guide for his hard work! Highly recommended!


