Reviews: Kumamoto Historic Sites Pilgrimage, Kusasenri One-Day Tour in Kyushu Distant view of Mount Aso + South Aso Railway Train, Featured One-Day Excursion

Despite traffic congestion, our guide, Zhu Zhu, was able to flexibly adjust the itinerary to meet the needs of our tourists. She patiently answered questions and enthusiastically recommended local restaurants, addressing any issues outside the itinerary. The fruit-filled ice cream near Kumamoto Castle and the horse meat BBQ in Kusasenri were both delicious and worth trying. In Kusasenri, we enjoyed a distant view of Mount Aso and, with the guide's coordination, rode the Minami-Aso Forest Railway. The villages, the gradually turning yellow farmland, and the delightful surprises from the NPCs at the small stations brought the trip to a perfect close.

Reviews: Kyushu Kumamoto 1-day tour: Kumamoto Castle + Minami Aso railway train + Kusasenri | Depart from Fukuoka

Overall, a great experience! The most anticipated part was Mount Aso, and the weather was fantastic. We were lucky enough to get close to the crater, making it well worth the trip. For those who enjoy sightseeing, the tour included stops in Kusanagi for lunch and free time, so it didn't feel rushed. The tour leader was excellent, providing plenty of emotional support; very professional and highly recommended. If you're on a vacation abroad and don't want to drive, and want to escape the city, I highly recommend this carefree, relaxing day trip.

Reviews: Fukuoka: Southern Aso Railway, Mt Aso, Kurokawa Onsen Tour
Guest User2026-11-04
What I enjoyed most was the onsen and the view of Mount Aso (Buddha). I had a little time in the onsen village, but it was just enough (I can recommend the pudding there). Our guide, Helen, explained everything well and gave helpful tips, and even though I was the only one who spoke English, she helped me right away. Thank you so much, Helen, for this fantastic trip (and thanks also to the driver and the other guide).
