Get on the bus Central Reykjavik We start the tour with a quick and efficient transfer service. Your tour includes free pick-up from multiple designated Pick-up &amp; drop-off point(s) in central Reykjavik. Once you've collected yourself, we'll head to the volcano playground in Reykjanes. 1. Lake Kleifarvatn (This stop is not currently guaranteed on every trip. We may skip this stop if the volcano hike takes longer than expected) Klaifavatn is the largest lake on the Reykjanes Peninsula, surrounded by mountains formed in subglacial eruptions. It is dotted with black basalt beaches and alien rock formations sculpted by centuries of wind and rain. Klaifavatn has been affected by earthquakes and tectonic shifts, forming underwater hot springs that bubble up before your eyes, a breathtaking sight. 2. Volcanic Eruption Site After two summers of eruptions, Reykjanes seemed calm and serene until July 2023, when a series of earthquakes signaled a new eruption was imminent. Sure enough, on July 10, a new fissure opened at Litli Hrutur, just north of the 2022 Mälardal eruption site. The hike to a good viewpoint takes about 2 hours each way. Our route may vary from day to day depending on wind direction and weather conditions. It is generally flat, although there are a few short, steep sections. Your professional guide will ensure that this adventure is both fun and safe. Thick lava fields meet the Atlantic Ocean, creating a dramatic landscape leading to the fishing village of Grindavik. Grindavik is one of Iceland's main fishing ports, and fishing is everything here. This is a great place to experience Iceland's fishing culture. Grindavik is a beautiful Icelandic fishing village with one of the most active ports in the country.
