Reviews: Kuala Selangor Fireflies and Blue Tears One Day Tour with Dinner

Unique experience, but really subject to weather conditions and planned timing of visit (avoid full moon period for higher chance of spotting blue tears and more fireflies). We visited when the moon was very bright, so there wasn’t a lot of fireflies and tried as hard as we did, barely spotted blue tears. Still worthwhile as a good half-day trip to connect with nature after spending time in the city. Do expect a long drive from KL city. Seafood dinner was pretty good and very filling, with a wide variety of local seafood, meat and veg dishes.
Reviews: KL Eco Discovery Group Tour – Sky Mirror, Monkey Hill, Eagle Watching, Fireflies & Blue Tears (Full-Day Join-In Tour)

I was picked up at 7:30 a.m. and toured until 9 a.m., and I was satisfied with Sky Mirror. I didn't get bored because I chose various programs, but there were plenty of free time during the tour. For lunch, I went to a seafood restaurant. There weren't many options and it was a bit expensive. I didn't really want to eat there. The food was so-so. I got bitten by a lot of mosquitoes when I saw the fireflies. Blue Tears was amazing and there were a lot of fireflies. The Monkey Temple was boring and hot. It was hard to walk around outdoors in broad daylight. I didn't get tired because I slept on the move here and there.

The trip was well organized. The guide had written directions in advance and was available. He answered all our questions along the way. The bus was air-conditioned. We drove to the caves and then up into the mountains. The Chinese temple was particularly impressive. There was no informational support on the temple grounds, so it's best to ask the guide for all the details beforehand.
Reviews: Kuala Lumpur Suburbs Batu Caves Half-Day Tour - Morning or Afternoon Tour Option
Guest User2025-09-18
Even though I went alone, I didn't have any inconveniences because the schedule was short. Since the schedule was short, I only wanted to go to Batu Caves, and it was nice to be able to go there and back comfortably. There are a lot of stairs, so wear comfortable shoes. They stop you if your shoulders or knees come out. (It seems they lend you a shampoo.) They also give you a bottle of water. However, if you leave in the afternoon, you'll probably get stuck in traffic when you enter the city because it overlaps with rush hour, so I think it's better to go in the morning. I was also able to experience batik for a bit.

A very cost-effective day trip, driver Dennis Chen is warm and friendly, knows the local customs, and has a good experience.
