Mary reached out the day before via WhatsApp and answered my logistic questions. Overall I’m very happy I joined her tour. She is patient, upbeat, and explained well without being overwhelming. Perhaps I’m out of shape, but this ~5 hours walking tour was intense during the last hour or so. Be sure to wear comfiest shoes and bundled up! Also I’m glad Mary’s notes did mention bringing drinks and snacks with you. The snack shops inside the Forbidden City were too long to wait.★

I'll list the positive aspects: the bus picked us up on time, the air conditioning was on and it was very warm, and our guide, Jessie, was very kind and helpful! She speaks very good English! Heads up: the theater is in a hotel! We walked to the address given by Amap but couldn't find it. The theater is actually inside the hotel at the location shown on the map (see photo 1). The show was excellent! It's a great introduction to Peking Opera. It features three excerpts in different styles (comedy, dance, and tragedy), and the time flies! Small screens are placed on either side of the stage with subtitles and English translation, which helps with understanding and immersion in the story.★
