Our professional local guide will lead you on an exciting journey through "calli," "campi," and palaces, uncovering the history, secrets, and life of Venice past and present.
The walk starts from St. Mark's Square in the city center, from there you will reach Ponte della Paglia, where you can enjoy a unique view of the Bridge of Sighs (also known as the "Bridge of Lovers"), although it actually leads to the dark and feared Doge's Prison.
The journey continues to one of Venice's many curved bridges, leading to Campo Santa Maria Formosa, one of the city's largest squares. From here, 9 streets and 11 bridges branch out, many of which lead to the entrance squares of surrounding buildings.
Then you will pass through Campiello degli Orbi to reach the Campo Santi Giovanni e Paolo area, where the Venice hospital is now located. After visiting the hidden and charming Campiello Remer, from which you can enjoy a unique view of the Rialto Bridge, the tour will proceed to the legendary home of Venice's famous explorer, Marco Polo.
At the end of the tour, you will receive a QR code to download a digital map featuring 2D images of Venice from the Middle Ages to the 18th century. You can compare fascinating locations and see how they looked in different eras versus today. Imagine—the Rialto Bridge was once a drawbridge, and the Doge's Palace was an actual medieval castle.
