The Qingjiang River is the mother river of the Tujia people. Misty mountains and continuous peaks line both banks as boats glide through the river. Take a boat tour through the Qingjiang River in the rain, admiring the misty gorge and the picturesque scenery of the emerald-green waters.
The Qingjiang River, anciently known as the Yishui River, spans eight hundred li in length. It originates from the Longdong Cave at the foot of Qiyue Mountain in Lichuan, Enshi Prefecture, and flows into the Yangtze River at Yidu in Yichang. Sometimes roaring and surging, sometimes splashing like flying pearls, sometimes coursing underground, and sometimes crashing against cliffs, it traverses the Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture from west to east, nurturing generations of local people. The most picturesque section is the Qingjiang Butterfly Cliff, where the towering cliffs on both banks resemble the wings of a butterfly, vivid and spectacular.
