Reviews: Quicksilver Great Barrier Reef Snorkel Cruise from Port Douglas

It’s a slick operation, and the sizable (and full) boat got us out to the reef nicely for a day (3 hours) of snorkeling. All the 32 crew and people working for Quicksilver were great: nothing was a problem, even though we had to change our dates. After a 90minute boat ride out to the platform on fairly lively sea, we got suited up (!) for a snorkel. Clearly aimed at people who haven’t really done this before, the world and his wife then jumped in and thrashed about - a bit much for my wife, but once everyone had calmed down a bit and we swam further out, it was good. We were returning to the platform when a scheduled fish feeding occurred, with several large red bass scooting in for food: good fun to see it in the water. My teenagers also enjoyed going in the submersible, sad not to have booked a helmet dive early enough. Worth doing if you’re not planning to dive on the reef, and stable for people who might otherwise feel seasick.★
