There were language issues, but the scenery alone was enough. We had planned to stay overnight on the mountain, contrary to our original schedule, and the guide booked everything for us—hotel check-in, the return cable car, and the bus tickets—and even explained the route clearly. They also took great photos for us and sent them to us. It was a safe and enjoyable time.

We visited in November on a weekday. Lesser crowd and the weather was perfect, sunny between 10°C & 15°C. Our tour came with a guide who got us the tickets and planned the hiking routes, covering every "tourist-must-see" parts of the mountain. The buffet lunch recommended by the guide at ¥98/pax up on the mountains is a really good deal too. Huangshan is NO JOKE. The 8km up and down the steps lasted for almost 6 hours, excluding the one-way 20mins shuttle bus ride & one-way 10mins cable car ride. At the end of the tour our legs were not cooperative anymore. Besides the breathtaking views, it was also heartbreaking to see elderly potters carrying approximately 180 catties (about 108kg!) of goods up and down the mountains. They are literally breaking their backs 😭! Some even stopped and asked passers-by for water / food. Would forming a bucket brigade or a human chain be workable?

Super interesting tour and a must see attraction. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and shared some great interactive stories. Unfortunately we had to leave a little early as we had to be back in Xi’an, but nevertheless the tour was worth it! Be mindful to take your time for this trip, if you have it!

Vung Tau is about a 2.5-3 hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City. It's not exactly close, but it's not too far either, making it a great day trip for couples. Overall, I had a very good experience booking and participating in the tour. The tour guide was enthusiastic and provided excellent explanations, answering all my questions and speaking in Chinese. As for lunch, opinions vary, but I personally thought it was just average. I would recommend it to everyone!
