Reviews: Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City & Treasure Museum Small Group Tour

This was an amazing guided tour of the forbidden city, Tiananmen Square and the central axis. It was super busy but our guide Icy was super fast and efficient and knew how to get us through the queues and crowds. A very informative morning and I’m so glad I did it!
Reviews: Full-Day Mutianyu Great Wall Bus Tour with 5 Hours at the Site (ENG/ESP/RUS Guided Bus)

It's not the organizers' fault that I took away points. The weather ruined everything: cold, frost, and ice. The delivery was comfortable, the lunch was good, but walking on the wall itself was very slippery. And everything was foggy. So, we didn't get what we expected.

The tour includes an entrance ticket to the Forbidden City and the Treasure Museum. Your ticket is tied to your passport! Don't forget it. There were 10 of us in our group. Entry through the main southern gate was quick. Pick up your bag for the morning after 9 a.m. The tour lasts about 4 hours. The grounds are so vast that you won't be able to see everything. We visited all the main halls and the gates leading to them, the chambers of Empress Dowager Cixi, the Treasure Museum, and exited through the North Gate. Unfortunately, no one is allowed inside the halls, and it's difficult to see much through the half-open doors and dirty glass. The Treasure Museum was incredibly crowded, so we couldn't get a good look. Chinese New Year was probably a factor. The tour was well organized. Our guide, Alina, was very responsive and helped us not only with the tour but also with other pressing questions. However, I personally missed more detailed historical facts (which is why I took the tour, as audio guides often fail during independent exploration).

Reviews: Mutianyu Great Wall private chartered tour, including admission ticket and shuttle bus, private car for each family, and door-to-door pickup/drop-off within the Fifth Ring Road

The driver contacted us a day in advance to discuss our itinerary for the next day. He was courteous and considerate, waiting for us downstairs at the hotel. The hour-and-a-half journey to the Great Wall was filled with extensive historical knowledge. He carefully considered our needs for rest and naps, and provided appropriate introductions to the surrounding scenic spots. He was warm, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and extremely courteous, showing a strong sense of place. We were feeling a bit tired on our way back to the city after Mutianyu and were planning to return directly to the hotel. However, the driver, taking into account our rest, realized we hadn't reserved tickets for the Forbidden City. To ensure our family of three didn't miss out, he thoughtfully recommended that we take advantage of the 30th, before the crowds reached us. While we could have ended our trip in the city, we were able to visit Jingshan Park with a 2-yuan ticket to see the Forbidden City and enjoy a panoramic view of Beijing at night, despite over an hour of traffic. Jingshan Park was a truly relaxing and enjoyable experience. Thank you, driver! A true treasure!

I had a really great time watching the sunset at the Great Wall! I was so lucky!! I saw the Great Wall's "Meow Guard" (a nickname for the Great Wall's security team) along the way! It was breathtaking; its grandeur and vastness were truly before my eyes!!! I hiked the western route (14-20) at Mutianyu. My goal was straight for the Hero's Monument!! I regretted not trying the toboggan run after taking the cable car up and down… Personally, I thought this route was relatively gentle, perfect for children and the elderly! It's just that I didn't have enough time, otherwise I would have also hiked the eastern route (6-1)!!! After all, I was saying: This outfit was for setting a new daily step count! 💪 Kolon Obli-k windbreaker and Kolon Cross-World hiking shoes. These Cross-World hiking shoes are absolutely gorgeous! They're both stylish and high-performing!!! Designed specifically for Asian foot shapes, these shoes require absolutely no break-in period. The inner lining features a Gore-Tex waterproof sock liner, providing both waterproof and breathable protection, ensuring you're completely safe even in the rain. The Vibram outsole offers exceptional grip; I love the supportive feel! And the shoes are incredibly comfortable! Having climbed the Great Wall and fulfilled my duty as a hero, may we, having traversed mountains and rivers, still find life worthwhile.
