If you decide to go without a tour, you should definitely do two things: be prepared for a long line and study information about the place in advance to understand the full scale 𤲠So take a tour to avoid all this đ
And, of course, visiting Beijing and not visiting the Forbidden City is strange đâ

We really had a wonderful day at the temples and the palace. Beautiful to see. For a small extra charge, we even booked a boat trip to the Summer Palace. A nice mixed international group. The tour is in English and our guide Gary speaks the language well. He has an incredible amount of knowledge and knows how to convey it to the group in a very fun and pleasant way. Great guy!! The guide at the Forbidden City in the morning, Mr. Niu, was excellent. He explained things carefully and patiently, sharing many interesting stories. The tour was very memorable, and I learned a lot! In the afternoon, the guide at the Temple of Heaven, Mr. Fan, was also very attentive and knowledgeable. I was amazed by the many architectural details of the Temple of Heaven, and he explained the emperor's sacrificial rites to Heaven in detail. I learned a great deal!â

Guide Zhao was very responsible and cultured đđť What impressed me most was that at the Circular Mound Altar, he bravely appealed to the crowd not to step on the Heavenly Heart Stone, which represents the deities. Although it had little effect, his strong sense of cultural conscience was still palpable. Thank you so much for this excellent guided tour; it was very rewarding! ^-^â
