Reviews: Recoleta Cemetery - Small Group Tour of History & Secrets
Guest User2026-11-05
I’d never seen people so eager to show off their coffins… until I visited Recoleta Cemetery. Now I understand—if your address for eternity is a lavish “mansion,” complete with ornate sculptures and imported marble, perhaps you’d want to show it off too! 😂 But behind these grand mausoleums are stories even more fascinating than their architecture. I visited the tomb of Eva Perón, better known as Evita, Argentina’s former First Lady, and heard about her extraordinary life and the remarkable journey of her remains before they finally came to rest here. Then there was an entirely different kind of love story—or perhaps a lack-of-love story! Vice President Salvador María del Carril and his wife, Tiburcia Domínguez, apparently took their marital feud beyond the grave. Her bust faces away from his statue. Imagine being so annoyed with your husband that even eternity together requires looking in opposite directions! 😅 Thanks to my guide Esteban, he's one of the best guide I've even met.
