▲ The Erzsébet Bridge (Erzsébet Híd), also known as the Sissi Bridge, is a major bridge in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, spanning the Danube River and connecting Buda and Pest on either side. Located at the narrowest point of the Danube in Budapest, the bridge has a span of only 290 meters. It was named after Empress Elisabeth Amalie Eugenie of Austria-Hungary, who was assassinated in 1898. Today, her large bronze statue stands in the small garden on the Buda side of the bridge.
