Reviews: 1-day tour to the Hill of Tara (Temair) and the Celtic cultural relics of the Boyne Valley | Round-trip from Dublin

This itinerary was fantastic, with attentive service and thorough explanations. The Boyne Archaeological Sites, dating back over 5,000 years, were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993. It's Europe's largest and most important display of prehistoric megalithic art, reflecting the society, economy, and funerary practices of the time. To understand Irish history, consider visiting Castle Pollard, Trim, and Kells. Overall, it was excellent, a fantastic experience, and great value, as the entire itinerary was perfectly arranged.

Awesome! Our guide and driver Matt was so pleasant, helpful, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about history. He really made the trip and added two extra stops that were incredible bonuses. We had a fantastic meal at New Grange in their lovely cafe and found the best gifts in their gift shop. I highly recommend Matt with Hilltop Treks who was the ideal host!!

We took the 2pm VIP tour on Wednesday Dec. 17, 2025. The cathedral historian was very friendly, enthusiastic, and interesting to talk to and gave us fascinating details and stories about the cathedral. I wanted to see Pierre Toussant’s grave, which we missed seeing at the Old St. Patrick’s Basilica before it was moved. Our historian pointed out features related to Archbishop Terence Cardinal Cooke after I showed her a photo of Cardinal Cooke and me at my Catholic dorm’s dedication at Columbia. She gave us interesting background on the move of Archbishop Fulton Sheen’s grave to Illinois from St. Patrick’s. Our guide made the tour even more special and I recommend it as it informs on so much of what you are seeing, how it got there or why it’s no longer there, and why it’s noteworthy.
