Excellent, lively and knowledgeable driver cum guide Bunty who not only shared immensely useful
Information but kept us entertained through his anecdotes and engaging conversations. Went out of the way to give us unique experience of visiting the swinging bridge and accommodated a request to visit a friend to say hello and yet kept the time. Given the start was very early, he ensured that we have brief stop for coffee and snack before heading out to first of the two engagements for the day. This itself made the visit memorable additional to visit to glow worm caves and visit to Geysers and sumptuous lunch. Overall a fantastic trip…Kudos to FlexiToursNZ who kept their words of keeping the vehicle suited for small group with comfortable seats.★

Great trip we would have been happy to go directly to Hobbiton on our way out of Roturua but tickets sold out months in advance - guessing it is preferred that people go by coach and have the “festive” lunch. Despite the very wet weather we thoroughly enjoyed the day. Our driver was entertaining to say the least (named nutter!) & our guide at Hobbiton was a lovely young lady who was very knowledgeable. The farm is very well set up for rain ☔️ even providing umbrellas 🌂 it was really interesting talking to other travellers too. We had plenty of photo opportunities & time to visit the gift shop too. Would definitely recommend★

Fae was our tour guide and she was great! Really engaging and clearly loves what she does. The village was beautiful. We learnt so much about the history and how they used the springs to cook and bathe. We ate corn cobs cooked in the hot spring - they were surprisingly delicious. They hadn’t been seasoned with anything (not even salt) so it seems that the minerals in the hot springs give it some lovely flavour. We didn’t get to see the geyser erupt at its maximum force/height but it was still cool to see. The cafe has traditional meals cooked in the traditional way to pre-order or buy on the day (subject to availability) (appx NZ$25) or you can just buy a traditionally cooked chicken or beef pie (we got one of each - beef was so much nicer!) (appx NZ$9) (also subject to availability so buy before your tour and collect at the end) - We only bought the village tour but by the end of it, we really wanted to do the geothermal trail too so bought separately - Definitely recommend this!
